先日「エシカル男子の会」をつくる会 のローンチパーティーにパネラーとして参加させていただきました。
他にも、内閣府「子ども・子育て会議」委員・ジャーナリストの吉田大樹さん、
LGBT就活などを進めるNPO法人Rebit の藥師実芳さん、エシカル牽引役として オルタナS副編集長の池田真隆さんが
パネラーとして登壇。発起人であり司会者でもある稲葉哲治さん、吉野庫之介さん、参加してくださった皆様とまじえて
フランクなディスカッションがつづき、白熱した2時間半でした。
とても心に残ったのは、「ライフワークとライスワーク」という言葉。
お金を稼げる、ご飯を食べられる仕事＝ライスワークをしながら、自分が本当にやりたいことをプロボノや副業、
パラレルキャリアとして実践する＝ライフワークという対比で表現に使われる言葉が、
このディスカッション中、何度もでてきました。
「竹迫さんは、コピーワークがライスワークで、エシカルブランドがライフワークなんですか？」
と訊かれたりもしたのですが、その分け方は、自分の「仕事」に対するモチベーションとはちょっと違うんだよなあ、
と感じています。確かにコピーワークは、自分の技術であり需要があるのでエシカルブランドを経営するよりも、
パフォーマンス（金銭的対価）が高いこともあるのですが
コピーワークもまた、自分にとってはかけがえのないライフワークであるのが、正直なきもちです。
２つの仕事をやるからには、ライスワークとライフワークという分別ではなく、どちらもライフワークであり
あまよくばライスワークにしてやろう、というがなければ、つづかないように思いますし
「ご飯を食べるためのライスワークだから、仕方ないからやろう」というモチベーションでは、
その仕事は一生ライフワークには転換しないんだろうな、と感じたりします。
なによりも、ライスワークの報酬を払っている会社や、雇っている人の立場になると、ちょっと悲しいですよね。
自分が雇っている人が、仕事を「ライスワーク」でしか見なしていない、と分かったら、腹がたちますよね。
仕事って、お金の対価以上の価値をそこにもたらすから仕事だと思いたいのです。
わたしも、こういう考えにいたったのは、自分で会社を設立してからです。20代は仕事の対価なんて考えもしませんでした。
自分はずっと「２足のわらじ」という言葉を使っています。
阿川佐和子さんも著書で「家庭で嫌なことがあれば、職場でいいことがあって、どっちかの“いいこと”にすがって女性は生きていける」と述べているそうです。同じくお笑い芸人と音楽家という2つの顔を持つ清水ミチコさんもテレビがダメでも、ライブでウケると、「私にはライブがあるじゃないか」と思って続けてくることができた……と自身の経験を語ったそうです。
おそらく、ミチコさんにとっては「音楽家」も「お笑い芸人」もライフワークだったんだろう、とおもいます。
「そんな余裕のあること言ってられない。お金をもらえればそれでいい。」という考え方の人もいるとおもいます。
つまりは、じぶんにとっての絶妙な心とお財布のバランスを見つけられれば、それが一番なのかもしれません。
２つのわらじをはきながら、どっちか１つに悩まされ、どっちか１つに励まされながら、生きていく。
とても現金な考え方ですが、それがいまの自分のここちよい生き方に近いような気がします。

I was invited to the launch event of “Ethical boys” which has a purpose to increase the number of men who has mind to take care of ecology, social activity and ethical life style.
I was a member of panel as an ethical/social professional who started the business from the scratch.
3 other professional people joined that panel like Mika Yakushi who is supporting LGBT people especially students who are handicapped for their job hunting, Masataka Ikeda vice chief editor of Alterna S, Taiki Yoshida, a journalist of child education and has been educating his own children as single father as well.
We discussed passionately involving the audience for 2 hrs, it was a great moment for me but one word didn’t sound right. It was “ Life work and Rice work”.
Many Japanese people use this word lately as an expression of “ Doing the job to eat (Rice work) and doing social/ ethical /volunteer work (Life work) simultaneously ”.
I was asked from a few people if my copy writing job is rice work and my ethical business might be life work but it is not collect words to discribe my attitude to the business. Honestly speaking, it is true that sometimes I am paid well with my copywriting job much easier that my ethical business but copy writing job is my precious life work as well as ethical activity.
I would say “Rice work” will never turns out to be “Life work” if people keep think/treat it “Rice work”. The passion and motivation more than the payment is always needed in business. Most of all, I feel that it is quite impolite to the person who is paying the fee to you. How do you feel if your employee regard the job “Rice work”.
I am afraid no “big idea” or “team work” comes out from such environment.
I use the word “ Nisoku no waraji” which means “wearing two hats”.
I always have some trouble with one of two hats but always another hat suits and cheers me.
Both of them are my irreplaceable works in my life.
